I KNOW you've all been waiting for it! so here it is!

Kate's Happy Kitty Fun Time Show

As I'm sure you all are aware my roommate Anne has moved out (still have an opening for a roommate if anyone is looking/knows someone looking in the next few months) Anne was very allergic to cats so I never, really, ever considered getting one until she said she was leaving.
By happenstance, or rather the prolific nature of the Diamond bar breed, My sister was hosting Isters latest batch and finding them homes. (still two little black girls available if you want/know someone who wants one, perfect valentines day gift? my sis would rather not have to take them to a shelter, even if its a no kill one.)
Previously we had planned on getting one of the boys and one of the girls but the boys just took center stage when we were there to pick them up. (plus my sister wanted me to take the boys cuz shes sweet on them <3)
So Monday night I adopted Petey (the sweety) and (El) Bandito (de los pantalones) They were very scared at first, Bandito wouldn't come out of the carrier and Petey wouldn't leave the immediate vicinity of the carrier. But yesterday they ventured out and found a hiding place under my bed. Then around midnight they took their chances and went back downstairs for food, after which they indulged in some play after I showed them their toys :) which is where all the following pics are from.

I Have a video of Bandito doing his best to murder the purple mouse but it doesn't seem to want to upload properly >:( so maybe next time once I get it fixed.

Over all their adjusting nicely, Bandito is very vocal and seems to meow if hes alone or if Petey is out of sight but also just randomly. Petey meows quite a bit as well but his meows are much quieter. Petey really is a sweety and loves being pet! he will start purring right away, stretch out and roll onto his back for belly rubs X3 Bandito is a little more skittish but hes warming up already, he obviously enjoys being pet and will start purring quickly as well, its just getting that first stroke in... hell usually try to duck away from my hand or walk past just out of reach, but i can already see improvement. he even sat on my lap for a little bit earlier tonight while i pet him XD
In closing here is how they were sitting behind me as i was uploading the pictures. brace yourself for cuuuute~!

Happy new year everyone~!

this year is starting out with quite a change for me. My roommate Anne has decided to move out by the end of this month. This leaves Bailey and I with 3 options.
1)Replace Anne and continue our lives as is.
2)Move (hopefully to Torrance-ish area or somewhere thereabouts) -- Moving would be a pain though...we're willing if it comes down to it since we could get closer to Baileys work and I could be closer to my Family (dear gawd I have SO MUCH CRAAAAP!!! DX)
3)Try to live the sweet life and split the rent in half...which would be a little more expensive then either of us wants to manage.

Thusly Bailey and I will be needing a new roommate if we hope to stay in this apartment. SO if you haven't guessed already this post is to ask if anyone is looking for a place. You would have your own room and a parking space in the garage, theres a smallish back patio. Playa Del Rey is a nice area no real crime that i know of, just a few drunk people chortling up the street once in awhile. 5-10min walk to the Beach, coffee shop, little post office, little market and local eats/bars.
Bailey and I arnt clean freaks but we keep the common areas tidy enough
if annyone is interested or knows someone whos looking drop me a line, male or female is fine as long as their sane, not a druggie or alcholic etc.

You know how sometimes people on your friendslist post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when were they working THERE? Since when were they dating HIM/HER? Since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

FULL NAME
Kathleen Victoria Gibson. I go by Kate as I'm sure you all know. I'm told I was almost named Amy but since my sisters are Alex and Anne my parents felt they needed to break the pattern of "A's" XD I Also don't go by Kathy because that's my Aunts name :p

AGE
29~ man its weird to think about almost being 30. XD

LOCATION
Playa Del Rey, CA. Ive been here about 8yrs or so, I really like the area and aside from my shady landlord and lack of insulation my apartment is really nice and spacious. We get a great deal considering that this place is 3 bed 2 bath, has a back patio and is walking distance from the beach. I get a little restless from time to time and would like to have a place of my own someday, but that seems to be a ways off, so for now I'm quite happy here.

OCCUPATION
You can skip this part if you want cuz I'm just going to whine like I usually do... I'm an art monkey for a crappy t-shirt printing company. My main boss is a shady jerk but my other boss is a cool guy. Thankfully my main boss is usually to busy trying to sell his overpriced house and yelling at his kids over the phone to pay me much attention, unless he actually has me doing something for him. The good thing about this job is that it made me learn a lot about adobe illustrator and even a few photoshop tricks that I probably wouldn't have had to figure out otherwise. I should really get a new job but that sounds like working on my portfolio and thinking about my future... god forbid!

PARTNER
none at this time, boo nobody like me~! **eats worms**

KIDS
I'm really not interested in having kids... like...ever. I'm not saying that that will never change but... I highly doubt that I'll ever actually want children. I'm just too selfish to devote my life like that. I don't even really want a dog for the same reasons. yeesh!

SIBLINGS
I have one brother, John, whos the oldest, and 2 sisters Alex and Anne. (Im the baby :3)
All my siblings are married and Alex is the one with kids (Madilynn, Clayton, and Adyline) She's a great mom and very dedicated to them. She takes after my mom a lot and is the 'pretty' one, we used to tell her to put on make up when we went out shopping so we would get better service XD shes also kind of the 'black sheep' of the family because shes the only morning person out of all of us!
I'm pretty close to my brother, apparently he wanted me in his room when I was born even after my mom warned him that I would start crying in the middle of the night <3 I'm pretty much the little brother he never had and we have very similar personalities. One of his wife's friends once commented that we had the exact same sense of humor. Theres also a running joke that I was trying to copy my brothers life cuz we went to the same collage, got the same kind of car and I moved into his apartment for school when his friend moved out etc...
Out of all my siblings I'd say I'm closest to my sister Anne, probably cuz shes the closest to me in age so I usually ended up playing with her the most and following her around and copying her as younger siblings are want to do; even though shes 4 yrs older then me. I remember playing with her and her friends a lot when I was little. I still tend to trail around after her actually.
also a fun fact: both my sisters married guys named Jim XD

PETS
Right now I've got two black hooded rats, Imperial and Orangethorpe. Their both boys(and I'm pretty sure their brothers) though they aren't as friendly as the rats I've had before(they don't really like being pet or held but they aren't aggressive or prone to biting or anything) I Lurve them~! and enjoy making kissy sounds at them XD
I really want to get ~~15 cats~~a cat though~! cats are the perfect pet for me, I grew up with cats always in the house because my mom dosent like dogs(she got bit once) dogs feel too 'clingy' but I dont dislike them or anything, just no real desire to have one. but ill have to wait as both my current roommates are allergic to the kitties :(
Ive also had various other animals in the past: a slew of mice that got out of hand ^^;, Joe the iguana(had him for years... but iguanas dont often make great pets), Neil the Crook who was a snake with a crooked neck(who died early on, I think from his defect) Cig a runt baby bearded dragon(also died early, wasn't very strong to begin with) "little dude" was a hawaiian gecko who hitchhiked over on one of Kandi's shipments, but he didnt do too well with our dry california air :( and Lucky who was an escaped feeder mouse that I took pity on(gawd he stunk! D:)

THREE TO FIVE THINGS GOING ON IN MY LIFE
1) Holidays are coming and x-mas is a bit of a deal in my family, though we're very non-religious and celebrate mainly because its fun family bonding times. thus its time to help my dad get the decorations down from that garage storage so my mom can deck the halls. Also time to make Kliner and for me to start figuring out what the heck to get everyone. Parents, siblings, siblings significant others, niece's and nephew, aunt and her hubby =13 people not counting friends @.@ thankfully wish lists are 'due' (or need to be updated) by Thanksgiving, its a family rule! XD its also looks like I'm going to make a few gifts this year :D so it should be fun! YAY X-Mas! I'm pretty excited for it this year!!

2)Ceramics: The current session is already over but Ive been taking a ceramics class up at the Palos Verdes Art Center for about 3 semesters now and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. its just nice to play in the mud and have it come out as something 'usefull' Never mind that I'm not sure what to do with so many bowls. I'm thinking i might see about selling some of them on Etsy cuz their starting to stack up! Anyway the class I'm in is intermediate ceramics and is basically a free form class. The teacher, Roy, is pretty awesome and ready to help and answer any questions we have. He does really beautiful work and is amazing on the wheel, its always neat to watch him when he does a demonstration. Ive been planning to do a post on ceramics, maybe Ill get to it soon~!

3)That weight vs exercise issue... Ive been pretty bad about it lately(since Halloween about) but i want to do the couch to 10k running program that Ali recommended. not that I really want to run a 10k but id like to get to the point where i can run for longer then 1.5 minuets without feeling like suffocated-vomity-death. I want to be able to run for exercise purposes cuz its the kind of workout I want. and maybe maybe if i can get myself feeling stronger ill take up some sort of 'sport' or something... don't know what yet though.. baby steps!

4) i have a cavity that i need to stop ignoring and take to the dentist :(

5) Miami vacation this new years with my gals~! WOOOOOO! **excited**

6) BONUS ITEM: Karens wedding is so soon~! so much to do~! Karen! remember I'm free to help out with things~!!!!! :D

PARENTS
I adore my parents and losing them is my greatest fear. I'm very close to both my parents and i dont Think I could ever move out of the LA area cuz i would be too far from them. I'm only a 30-45 min drive away and sometimes it still feels like too far (I cryed buckets when I moved out for college T.T)
I'm a LOT like my dad, were both the mellow laid back type and we have a lot of similar tastes. A lot of my childhood memories of going out somewhere etc, are usually with him. I remember playing 'tree" where my dad would hold my hands and i would walk up his legs until i could flip back over to the ground :) My dad loves Kids, hes very happy to be "Gramps" and always gets dragged away by Madilynn or Clayton(and I'm sure Adyline will latch onto him once shes old enough)
It was a long time before I knew what he did for a living since he never left to go to an office or anything, he basically invests with the advice of a cousin, I remember going in to ask him what he did one day because i had to write about it for school, i joked that i was starting to think he was a secret Mob Boss XD
I also believe my dad is at least somewhat psychic, hes told me some stories of his experiences and hes not one to make things up or exaggerate so i whole heartedly believe them, he also learned to do tarot card reading... until he read when my grandpa and grandma(on my moms side) were going to pass away, which came true... so he stopped doing readings after that. My dad also never watches war movies because of his days in the navy, i really don't know much of what he might have gone through cuz its not something he talks about, I've only ever heard two or three stories about those days and only one was about anything war related. Ive always wanted to ask him more about it, but I'm a little scared to, i don't want to bring it up if its something he doesn't want to talk about.

my mom was originally born in SF and is more the social one that organizes things for her painting chapter, family/friend get togethers and holidays etc. So shes always pretty busy with various activities, shes did PTA all though our school years and things like that.
She was also more of the authority figure when we were little, although my parents were always good at being a 'united front' and I've never seen them fight/argue about anything, they took a very concous effort to raising us which i think was more my moms doing, but its hard to tell because their still a 'united front'!! Ive overheard people ask her about parenting on several occasions, so i guess she did a good job! XD
My mom was always the one that took us shopping, and still is haha! She likes to spoil us just a bit, and has a field day being able to spoil Madilynn, Clayton and soon Adyline. cuz what happens at Grandmas house stays at Grandmas house!

From talking to friends and such it seems like my parents are a little odd sometimes, they don't fit all the 'parent' stereotypes at least, my mom will often stay up till 3-4am painting(its safer to call my parents at 11pm/midnight then 11am!) their both decently computer savvy (though more my dad then my mom) but much more then a lot of people their age from what I can tell(I often ask my dad about computer stuff when I'm having a problem) They both do the art thing, my mom does folk art painting, still lifes, rosemauling etc, and my Dad likes Life drawing, oil painting, printmaking and plays around with different media a lot. I took several Life drawing classes with my dad awhile back, people find it amusing that i can sit in a room drawing naked people with my dad right next to me, but its a lof of fun! XD

Kittens! who dosn't like a post about kittens!

So my Sis is living a meager version of my crazy cat lady dreams and took pity on one of the strays in the backyard that was super pregnant. and as such things go this has resulted in 5 kittens that will need homes.

so once again if you know anyone that would like to give some cute kittens a GOOD home let me know, they'll be ~~ripe~~ ready for adoption around Dec.4th or so. As far as my sis can tell the two black ones are girls and the B/W ones are boys, their all friendly and sweet.

My sis has promised more pictures once their a little older and ready to be adopted out. So you can look forward to more cuteness in a couple of weeks:)
